What is a Water Ionizer?

The function of a Water Ionizer unit is first to clean and then to ionize (alkalize) normal tap water.

The worldwide popularity of water ionizer machines has increased with the higher awareness of the health benefits of ionized alkaline water and the need for proper hydration.  It is thought that within 10 years the water ionizer will be as common as the microwave is today.  The water they produce is aptly called "Water for the 21st Century".

The water ionizer unit produces enhanced alkaline water through the process of electrolysis.  The minerals in water are ionized as the tap water flows over positive and negative electrodes.  During the ionization process the water is split into two streams (alkaline and acid) which then flows from two different tubes.  The Alkaline water is for drinking and cooking.  The Acid water has many uses such as an astringent, washing vegetables and fruits, promoting plant growth (not to be used for internal consumption).

Prior to ionization, tap water is passed through a high quality filter to prepare the purest water possible for the alkalizing process.  The filters serve to remove particulate and most bacteria along with chlorine, lead, trihalomethanes, benzene and other harmful organic chemicals from the tap water.  Minerals, which are vital to the ionization process, remain in the water.

The ProAqua Electrode Chamber

• The chamber is comprised of Platinum coated Titanium electrodes with a patented matting, which enhances ionization efficiency by resistance to mineral deposits.

• The electrode chamber is specially designed to drain off all excess water in the electrolysis chamber between uses. This provides the electrodes with longevity built to last at least 10 years. The titanium is coated with platinum for excellent, yet durable, conductivity.
