Protein provides the structure
for all living things. It makes up the muscles, organs, glands,
hair, and nails. and protein is essential for the repair and
maintenance of all body tissues. All protein is composed of individual
amino acids. Those amino acids which must be obtained from our
diets are called essential amino acids. Protein deficiencies
occur when the diet does not provide adequate amounts of these
essential amino acids, leading to numerous physical ailments. |
